FARO Scene 7 and Forensic Wizard - Blood Spatter

Post by PDePoister »

Hello,

Has anyone else tried to use the Forensic Wizard in FARO Scene 7.0 to calculate area of origin for bloodstain patterns? It used to work in Scene 6.2 but now they've added it to the new interface and it seems like they didn't actually test it out... I can create a plane and place the photo but I cannot create blood droplets. It looks like there is no longer the option to create a Drop from the context menu. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Has anyone had success with Scene 7.0?

Thanks,

Paul

I don't have the blood spatter module, but I have played with it in the past. The first thing I would try is going back to the Legacy interface and I'm willing to bet it will work there. There are a couple steps I normally take in my workflow such as aligning my project which can't be done in the new interface. Try switching interfaces and see if that works for you.

Paul,

You can create the drops using the "select ellipse" "tool in the drop down menu of the "select polygon" icon on the explore tab to create the drops. Then right click and "create drop". If you want me to send you the basic workflow for the BSPA tool in SCENE 7, let me know. I would be happy to!

I have used the BPA module in SCENE 7 and it works correctly (a few things require you to create items a bit out of order).
The fallback is to use the classic interface..

Alinab116,

Thanks for the reply. I used the select ellipse tool to draw in the droplets but when I went to the context menu there was no "drop" selection. I could create planes, spheres, etc. but no "drop." I must be doing something wrong. If you don't mind sending the workflow to me I would be very appreciative. We don't use this tool very often so it always takes a little bit of work to get it going.

I'll send you a personal message with my email.

David,

I'll try working with the classic interface and see if that helps.

Make the elliptical selection, right click, Create Objects and you will see "Drop" at the bottom of the menu

If this doesn't show up for you then maybe an update or reinstall...otherwise, FARO support!

Cheers,

Eugene
