My team and I gave a workshop this past week at the Canadian Archaeological Conference in Gatineau, Quebec. We took advantage of the time to drive to a nearby cave and get some scanning in. Although not a forensic case, I was testing out how well the cave could be illuminated with a couple of rechargeable work lamps and by following the mirror on the scanner. I think I could have done a better job by not being distracted by our excellent tour guide who was a wealth of knowledge.

For using portable lights, it looks good. Can't imagine how it would look if you had more time or weren't distracted. Good job.

Re: Lafleche Cave, Quebec
It depends on what visual effects combined with the scans that one is trying to accomplish.
Here is a LSF post from about a year ago:

Discussing Z+F 5010X smart LED lights and Spheron calibrated LED lights in dark/night conditions. They are limited to about 10 meters from the scanner. We have not tested the Z+F 5016 LED lights which should improve the quality of HDR images and speed of capture in totally dark environments. One of the advantages of systems with on-board LED lights is the uniformity of illumination combined with the HDR processing of the appropriate software and NOT carrying additional batteries and tripods to support the lighting.
