Hello,
Can anyone recommend training on how to "get the most" from my scan data? My agency uses the x330 and Scene. I'm reasonably proficient at the basics at this point, but I'd like to improve my skills. Hoping to learn how to clean up scans, reduce noise, tighten up tensions, etc. I've been to the FARO Scene training provided to us when we purchased the scanners. I'd like to take the next step, whatever that might be?
Thanks,
Erick

Hey Erick,
May I ask, what kind of projects do you work on?
I would highly recommend Rithm's Minimum Viable Workflow™ - Advanced Laser Scanning training module.
It's in depth, advanced training that goes beyond what is tough at the FARO's training. The training is catered according to your prior experience with FARO and you and your project needs. Things that are covered are Field Workflows, Office Registration Workflows, and workflows for creating deliverables, all following industry best practices.
Take a look at the attached sample syllabus and contact us at [email protected] for more info. Nathan

Re: Training / How To Get The Most From My Scans
I do crime scene work so my projects can be just about anywhere, indoor, outdoor, vehicles. Most often, outdoor scenes are pretty small, on average 20-30 yards on the long axis but can go quite large, in the hundreds of yards long. Indoors, I've done whole houses in a few cases, but typically just work the room(s) involved in the crime. Bloodstain pattern analysis and trajectory analysis are two areas where we use our FARO as well.
In crime scene work, per the NIJ guide, we need to achieve accuracy to within 1/4" of the real world measurement. Not too difficult when working with just a few scans. I've found it can be hard to get that with large scenes with more than 10 or 12 scans. I'd like to improve that in particular.

Where about are you based? There are different options that may benefit you depending on a variety of factors.
It may be worth taking a look at the IAFSM.org site to see if there is anyone local to you that can help.
