BIM workflow for setout

Post by guigus60 »

Hi Everybody,

Recently I watched the Leica's webinar:
https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/747494314"Ask the BIM Experts" which is interesting and if you haven't watch it do it now.
A lot of workflows are now designed to pass from Laser scanning to BIM model. But In this webinar they spoke about the opposite: BIM to setout a building. They mention some tool as Icon, Microsurvey layout... and I heard about Point Layout for Autodesk, 12D Field... Everything look great and very helpful but again it sound like there is a lot of possibility.
But what is your solution? Why do you think your solution is better?

Is there an automatic way to convert 3D model because I feel we have to convert manually a 3D model to a dote?

For information we are using Leica instrument (MS50,TS15...) and for the software part we are using AutoCAD, Revit, Naviswork, 12D. We are open to learn about other tool as Trimble, MicroStation... but be beginner language if you speak about one of them.
