looking for best method for modeling in Revit

Post by jelde »

Hello Evereyone!

We are a young german BIM-specialised office, which offers BIM-consulting, BIM-management and laser scanning for documenting BIM-models.
Normally we use Revit to produce as-built BIM-models out of laser scanning data. We tested some plug-ins like CloudWorx for Revit, Imaginit Scan-to-BIM etc. and modeled also without any plug-in directly with the point cloud.
But we are still looking for a more efficient way to produce a detailed model with parametric families etc..
How is your experience? Which software/s or tool/s do you use? How do you realize quality assurance?

Hello Jelde,

you should have a look to our software VirtuSurv with Revit Link. VirtuSurv provides a photo like scan view for modelling BIM elements and construction guides directly in Revit. The software also supports the creation of Revit families from scan data. You can either use the VirtuSurv scan view or you can load point cloud regions directly into the family editor.
Just take a look on our website and ask for a trial:

and here is the teaser video:

Hello Jelde,

As part of your evaluations, you should also have a go at the EdgeWise BIM software. Our software leverages automation to enhance the scan-to-Revit workflow efficiency, and we have quality QA tools to verify accuracy and fit. Also, our Revit integration is unique in creating as-built Revit deliverable quickly and accurately.

Here's a 2012 short video of the MEP application to get a sense of the functionality from scan-to-Revit: http://youtu.be/aMAsLhylj5E?list=UUrWIY ... Qg6HzFrXgw

Best of luck in your testing,
Tim
