"The intellectual property is ours but we don’t pay a cent for it, it’s done as cultural diplomacy by the Scottish government," Opera House CEO Louise Herron said.
More free scanning. Great.

I think it's great that more and more people in the world are beginning to understand what laser scanning can do.

Nice work guys!

This is an amazing project! I wonder how they could scan the roof in that detail.

Great question! It wasn't easy...it involved custom-built cantilevered rigs and even some abseiling by rope-access specialists!

Lyn Wilson and I wrote a piece for the UK's "Civil Engineering Surveyor" magazine's October issue (CES is the Journal of the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors in the UK). It can be read free online and discusses a lot of the challenges with 3D scanning such a unique structure:
http://mag.digitalpc.co.uk/fvx/ces/1310 ... press.html

And of course, the Scottish Ten is an initiative of the Scottish Government to donate projects to the CyArk 500 Challenge (http://www.cyark500.org), so once it's all processed, more of this content will be available online at the CyArk website (http://www.cyark.org).
