Re: Portland Stone Building
Looks good there Jason.
I was just curious, what resolution was it scanned at?

Re: Portland Stone Building
Hello Tim,
The clock tower was 'probed' for a distance and then scanned at 5 x 3 mm.

It was scanned at 5x3 to enable us to see the stone joints. Really it should have been 3x3 but we upped it to try and save alittle time on the project. However it was still painfully slow with the HDS3000.
Jase,
That image above doesn't do it much justice as it looks very grainy. What image software package do you use?

Re: Portland Stone Building
I can imagine! I recently scanned a large Harbour Pier to identify any cracks/major defects in that (at 5x5mm), with the SS2, and that still seemed to take an age to complete! So long infact the tide was lapping at the tripod legs on one occasion!Phil Marsh wrote:

How long were you on site in total then? Looks like a pretty large building with lots of 'in's and out's', which never helps!

Re: Portland Stone Building
The project is mid flow and we have spent 5 days on site [bad weather affecting play on occasions!] and expect to have 2 more visits to complete all the elevations. Some setups are on roof terraces, which for safety reasons and security/access, always take additional time. I must say that I have been very pleased with the HDS3000 data in PoinTools Model, especially the tower at over 57 metres away, but I must admit that working with a HDS3000 in the field is a slow process compared to the SS2.
We completed a project in south Wales recently, with a SS2/HDS6100 and a Faro120, and these are exceptionally quick compared to the HDS3000, lets hope we can upgrade soon.
Out of interest what was your deliverable for the Harbour Pier?
