I´m starting in the scan world and have one (of many) question related with the subject.
I have a friend that requested me if I could scan a facade of a building for him.
I did the scan (have a BLK360) and the rest of the process (registering, cleaning) in Register360.
My friend needs (cause he does not work with pointclouds) an image of that facade to import to Autocad and then draw on it.
How can i do it?
Tryed in Cloudworx with the command "Ortho image" but the resolution is not great at all.

Thanks.
You can export the point cloud in E57 format and use PointCab to generate your image.
It's really simple:
The description how to generate a section is in the last bullet point at the bottom of the page.

With the New Reg 360 v1.6 You can export to RCP pointcloud directly which he can read that directly with ACAD which will give him a precise facade that he can snap to features on

I am using:
Register 360
Recap
Revit
Global Mapper
Meshroom (trying it out anyway)
Cloudcompare (trying it out anyway)
Hi,

You can create ortophoto raster image views from point clouds directly in Revit, using "Undet for Revit" plug in.

Created orthophoto images can be used for Revit modeling or exported using standard Revit Tools.

More info:

P.S. If you want to create mesh models from scan data and put texture on it, you should try RealityCapture software.
Undet Point Cloud Software provides software solutions for AutoCAD, ARES Commander, Revit, and SketchUp point cloud users to save time, increase efficiency, and reduce errors in creating 3D models and 2D drawings.

It was the way we tried and worked. I gave him the RCP and after he opened in ACAD. Some problems viewing and rotating the cloud for the facade but after some struggle he did it.

But still I wanted to see how good can the resolution of an ortho image from Register could be.
I´ve bee trying but not really happy with the results...

But thanks for the help :)

I'd encourage you to give NUBIGON a try. It visualizes full-res point clouds as local surfaces combining visual quality with spatial accuracy. You can further enrich the scene with virtual lights, shadows and annotations and even bring in meshes (if applicable) and generate orthophotos from it at desired resolution. Here's a quick demo: https://youtu.be/_g6As6tjbI8 Our two-week trial is available for free from our website https://www.nubigon.com/. Let me know, if I can be of further help.

The easiest, easiest, easiest way to do what you are asking is in ReCap. Its easy to switch between ortho and perspective views, and it's easy to export images.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/ ... 6-htm.html

If you're paying for the AEC suite from autodesk you'll already have access to it. Otherwise at $40 a month starting with a 30 day free trial, it's worth while for this kind of operation alone.

If you're using Register360 for registration you can get to .RCP by exporting an .e57 and importing that into ReCap... That's a pretty reliable and easy, if slightly time consuming work-flow.

We've tools to extract high resolution ortho-images from SCC, if you skip to about 2:20 in the image below you'll get an idea of how this works. In this example we're colouring by normals to get an orthoimage, but the same technique can be used with available RGB to get an orthophoto. It is a very quick and easy way of adding value to client CAD deliverables, particularly facades and elevations. In the example below the JPEG we create is 20,000 x 8,000 pixels which is suitable for drawing over in a CAD package that does not have a point cloud engine.
